FRAMINGHAM, MA, April 25, 2011 -- Beacon Application Services Corporation, a leading integrator of Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise Applications and provider of software tools for managing PeopleSoft applications and environments, today announced Beacon Enterprise Application Manager (BEAM), designed for Oracle customers to help support their PeopleSoft Enterprise Applications by reducing the complexity and cost of managing those applications across multiple environments.
BEAM is a new service-oriented software platform from Beacon that builds upon and expands the change management and testing tools for PeopleSoft that Beacon acquired from Newmerix in 2009. Included within BEAM is a new module, BEAM Compare for PeopleSoft, which allows customers to compare both objects and data across multiple PeopleSoft environments to quickly identify differences, reduce manual efforts and avoid failed tests.
BEAM effectively and efficiently delivers testing, configuration management, change management and release management and is comprised of two main modules that operate independently and in unison. they include BEAM Change for PeopleSoft (change configuration and release management, and PeopleSoft data compare) and BEAM Test for PeopleSoft (automated testing and impact analysis). “While the Newmerix products had market-leading functionality, we knew early on that we wanted a more comprehensive and integrated approach to managing PeopleSoft applications,” said Dan Maude, president of Beacon. “We want to manage the applications, not just migrate or manage objects. With this release, we have taken a major step toward providing a complete suite of tools for PeopleSoft customers.”
BEAM Compare for PeopleSoft, a module of BEAM Change, allows customers to compare both objects and data across PeopleSoft environments. Both transaction and configuration data can be quickly compared between source and target databases. Users can specify any table, collection of tables or views to ensure consistency across environments.
BEAM Compare enables customers to define unlimited compare sets, limit compares based on field-level values and store compare results for future reference. Compare's easy-to-use browser interface displays a snapshot of each record within a compare set, enabling users to drill down on specific records to see row-level details of compare runs, including descriptions of each difference and informational messages.
For most customers, the answer to the question of whether their environments are in sync has been some variant of: “They are supposed to be.” With BEAM Compare for PeopleSoft, customers – whether in IT, Audit, Finance or Admissions – can say with confidence: “Yes, these environments are in sync” or “No, these environments are not in sync and here are the differences.” BEAM looks at data as part of change management, and helps customers manage and verify it.
In addition to BEAM Compare for PeopleSoft, BEAM also provides the new web-based UI for BEAM Change for PeopleSoft, and will be the basis for additional offerings from Beacon in the near future.
BEAM will be available on May 1. Each of the modules is available via standard licenses to customers for $60,000 each. In addition, they will also be available via subscription-based pricing at $3,000 per month for the first module, and an additional $1800 per month for additional modules.
