Whenever you need in-page navigation but still have a pretty wide content area without a lot of space consumed by the side column, the 2-Column Left is a good multi-purpose template you can use. Here are some of the specific cases when you may want to use this template vs. others:
If you have related content spread across several pages and your buyer needs to be able to quickly jump between one page and another not necessarily in sequential order, this is a great layout because it gives you a left column just to show the navigation, which is pretty narrow, so it won’t take a lot of space.
Just by looking at the left column, your buyer can have an immediate feel for how much is there to read in this section and what is it about.
When your content needs to be structured in short to medium pages, this is a great layout because the content area is still pretty wide. However if your buyer needs a long scrolling page with lots of information to get his common questions answered, you may be better off going with a full width layout.
The call to action placement in this layout should be done within the content area. The left column’s only purpose is to show the in-page menu navigation, that’s why is is a very narrow column and it is set to be hidden in smaller screens. We recommend you keep the left column only for the menu and do not place important information below the menu area. Also, keeping the left column just for the navigation will give your page some nice white space. Keep it that way and try not to clutter it.
